Fun Fun Fun Fest
This annual musical event is held at Waterloo Park and occurs the second weekend of November each year. The musical acts are all amateur acts that are looking for some instant exposure, which means tickets are quite affordable. In addition to music, there are also t-shirts and gifts available for purchase. The Fun Fun Fun Fest has been going on since the 1980s and features mostly punk style music. It is a very popular event for younger people, and one that we have enjoyed a few times in our days!
Texas Bluegrass Festival
Texas Bluegrass is a music genre all unto itself and it is celebrated each year at the Texas Bluegrass Festival at Scholtz Garten. There is a small admission fee to get into the festival, but it is open to the general public. If you’re looking for a discount to the festival, you can usually find cheap tickets on Zero Nose Bleeds. In addition to hearing some of the best Texas Bluegrass Music, you can also partake in food and beverages that are served. The Texas Bluegrass Festival occurs the second weekend of February every year.
The Cap City Comedy Club has been holding an annual Comedy Fest each year during the first Saturday in March. Anyone can participate in this day-long comedy fest that features yet undiscovered talent. This is open to the public, although there is an admission charge.
Alamo Memorial Days
During Memorial Day weekend, you might want to head over to the Bob Bullock Texas State History Museum so that you can learn about the Alamo Battle and also watch battle re-enactments. The Battle of the Alamo was where legendary frontiersman, Davy Crockett, was killed. The Alamo Memorial Days also include food and Texas Music.
Annual Tex Mex Festival and Parade
Independence Day is fun in Austin, Texas, and you can enjoy the American Independence Day with the Tex Mex Festival and parade. This festival combines both Texan and Mexican cultures in food, music and even parade floats and makes it one big celebration, right in the heart of Austin. There are also fireworks displays in the evening. If you have never tried Tex Mex food before, you are in for a treat when you visit Texas.
Austin Wildflower Show
The Annual Austin Wildflower Show is held at the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center. Wildflowers are cultivated in these gardens and are in full bloom during the third weekend in June. Although the center is open throughout the year, if you want to enjoy the Wildflower Show and see some of the most colorful cultivated wildflowers, you can do so at this annual event.
If you happen to visit the city of Austin during the month of October, you shall be in for a frightfully fun time. The annual Haunted Austin event includes several haunted houses and a Halloween Parade down the center street. There are also craft fairs in the center square on the weekends to celebrate the coming of the autumn season.
